Program Overview

The workshop will cover a variety of topics on what it means to work on the railroad in today's modern work environment as well as what rehabilitation professionals working with employees might expect.

Does it specifically address how to get a job with the railroad? No, but it will offer insight and information into the railroad culture as well as to the typical job requirements of those individuals working on the railroad currently. Hence, if you have an employee looking to access this occupational grouping, there will be information on the some job demands and duties. Or if you have ever questioned a railroad employee's transferable skills, here is an opportunity to become aware of the skill sets necessary to do a railroad job.

Other topics to be discussed include:

  •   What are jobs like on the Railroad in the 21st century
     (physical demands, skills  required, duties)

  •  FELA? What is it? What does it mean to
