8:00 – 8:45      Registration – Full Breakfast Buffet included with conference registration!

8:45 – 9:00      President’s Welcome and Comments

9:00 – 10:00    Head Injuries – Andrew Ellis, Ph.D. of Oregon Health Sciences University Division of Medical Psychology and Danielle Erb, M.D. of Brain Rehabilitation Medicine LLC will discuss rehabilitation.

10:00 – 10:15  Break – Exhibits

10:15 – 11:15  WCD Update – Barbara Smith, Assistant Director of Reemployment & Dispute Resolution Services in the Oregon Workers’ Compensation Division, will provide updates on OAR Vocational Assistance, Reemployment Assistance, and Employer at Injury Program rules.

11:15 – 12:15  Psychosocial Adaptation to Chronic Illness and Disability – Dr. Hanoch Livneh, Coordinator of Rehabilitation Counseling, Dept. of Special Education & Counselor Education at Portland State University.

12:15 – 1:30   Lunch – New OARP Officers and New Board Members introduced.

1:30 – 2:30     Workforce Development Systems in Oregon – Pamela Murray, Director of Workforce Development, and Frank Brown, Education Coordinator-Dislocated Worker Program, Portland Community College.

2:30 – 3:30     Working with Offenders – Meg Glor, Attorney from Swanson, Thomas & Coon, will discuss Liability Issues for Counselors regarding working with offenders.

3:30 – 3:45     Break – Sodas and Juice plus Vendor Door Prize Drawings at Exhibits

3:45 – 4:45     Working with Offenders: Part II – Clariner Boston, Executive Director, and Valerie Keita, Recruitment Specialist, from Better People will discuss Cognitive Behaviorial Therapy, Job Readiness, Placement and Retention Strategies.  

4:45 – 5:00      Closing

5:00 PM          Adjournment

Continuing Education Credits
6 CEU’s requested. Applications have been made for CRC, CDMS, CCM. Approval is solely at the discretion of the certifying agencies.

To obtain CEU’s, you must complete a session attendance verification slip for EACH session you attend and turn it in to the CEU Coordinator. You are also required to complete and turn in the conference evaluation form (exchange for your certificate).
